Meet the Team

Jens Frischmuth

My background is in sales and marketing. I grew up in Johannesburg and relocated to Durban in 2002 to be with my sweetheart, Janine. We got married the same year. My interests include sports (especially motor racing), wildlife, reading, travelling and of course aviation and photography. Janine also enjoys a good airshow, so we travel to many of the airshows together. My aviation outings have turned out to be a very rewarding experience - in terms of meeting lots of interesting people, learing about aviation, developing as a photographer and journalist and having lots of fun doing so!

I am the editor of Hangar Talk Online Magazine, run the website and can be contacted at editor@hangartalk.co.za . Feedback is always welcome.

Andre Vermeulen

My professional occupation is Procurement Manager for a large international organisation. However, my real passion lies in aviation and really anything to do with aviation. I have my PPL for over 22 years and have passed all the subjects for an IFR Commercial license which I still, at age 42, aspire to get before the end of 2012. My other hobby is photography which when I am not flying allows me to be close to aircraft. I have recently joined the SAAF Museum Photography Club which allows me to give back by not only being able to photograph aircraft but also to support the SAAF Museum in restoration projects. We are currently working on restoring a Mirage F1 to it's delivery scheme as 211.

Garth Calitz

I spent my formative years in Durban, later moving to Pretoria where I am still based today. My working life started with Protea Hotels in the food and beverage department. I later qualified as a chef and spent many years working all over South Africa in a variety of restaurants and hotels. It was at one of the restaurants where I met my wife Christel. We have 3 daughters. My love for aviation was born at a very young age watching the activity at first at Virginia Airport and later Waterkloof Air Force Base. This passion has never died and I hope to share it with you.
